Elements- Cues, Links and styles considered in Script writing.

When writing our script for our radio drama we had to consider various aspects of which were cues, styles and links.
We had to consider when we needed when we needed cues for the sound effects we were going to apply to our drama and also background noise. the importance of this was when it came to the editing of our recorded radio drama and adding the sounds and effects it would be easier to place them. It was also very important when we was doing the recording as each character then knew when to pause for space for sound effect or pause for linking when it came to editing. We used cues and links to to show when we had action taking place between different parts of our script recording. Also in our recording and when writing our script we applied silences to maybe show change in scene and to make the audience aware of what is taken place and when. We used many cues and links at the beginning of our script due to having part of our Radio drama being previous episodes so helped indicate when we were expressing a different episode and scene.
Examples of where we have applied cues and links when writing our script are:

(street Traffic people walking past)
(Roxy mumbles to herself whilst walking)
(Roxy says in a quiet muttering voice)

Roxy: oh god, what shall i say... Hi Belle, just to let you no, your boyfriend raped me... No Roxy that sounds stupid... ermm Hi Belle, I'm really sorry, no no i can't apologize i haven't done anything wrong.

This example shows the cues given to the character roxy it helped the character have enough time when recording to relate to link from previous scripted part and know how to express her voice and also the situation of which she is in. We decided to make the cues in italics within our script so they were clearly visable for the recording stage.

To express links when we were writing our script we use fade in and out techniques and also silences
e.g.
(bar music continues) (fade in)

and

Max: Yeah of course, i wouldn't let you walk back alone

(pause silence)

(walks back to Roxy's house)

These has to be taken into consideration when writing our script so we as characters knew what was happening and when the scene was changing and linking together to the next previous episode.

More examples of the cues we used are :
(shouting loudly indicating panic)
(Telephone rings, silent in background)
(Telephone rings, Roxy sounds panicky, background noise of quiet TV)
( Rustles of paper, footsteps, slam of door, cue next scene)

All of these cues and links were very important to take into consideration to make our recording run smoothly and to make it as well recorded as possible in order to create an overall convincing Radio drama. Not only did we find that it helped the character actors aware it helped the radio drama's audience also aware of links to different scenes.
