Examples of the construction of our Radio Drama

When making your Radio Drama we had to take a number of steps in order to make each section of our Drama sound to the highest quality. We did this using the program Soundtrack pro and by applying sound effects to parts of our script recorded piece.

Here are some examples of clips showing the steps of which we took to go from having simply just a voice to the effective sound effects and links in the end.


Firstly at the end of our Radio Drama we had a suicide involved and therefore needed alot of dramatic sounds and background noise involved in order to have a dramatic and effective outcome of the piece.

Secondly here is our Suicide recording when we had added sounds effects we found on soundtrack pro of Traffic and Police sirens.




Finally for our ending clip here is it fully with all the background noise we involved and all the sound effects making it sound much more effective then the orginal.








Second example :



Firstly here is an expect of our recorded script.
Max: I’ll walk you home now as it’s getting really dark

Roxy: ok thank you, but only if your sure

Max: Yeah of course. I wouldn’t let you walk back alone

This first clip is the piece of which is before we had applied any editing to it.



We then added sound effect of footsteps this made the piece sound more effective due to linking from leaving the the bar in the previous part of our drama and indicating they were walking somewhere.



we then added a sound effect of rain therefore with both the rain and footsteps helped address the audience that the scene was outside and they were walking making the Radio drama sound more effective.




Third example:

Here is our piece of which was a monologue expressing Roxy's feelings,

Roxy: I can’t do this anymore! He’s ruining everything. Why does he have to do this to me? I feel so sorry for Belle; she shouldn’t be with that monster. But of course she doesn’t understand. I really need Belle at the moment. She’s MY best friend but she’s not here, no body is. She won’t speak to me; she won’t even look at me. I just can’t take it. It’s killing me. I have no one to turn to but Joe and sometimes I feel like he doesn’t understand. I’m dead inside. There’s no point in being here, I’m not wanted, belle hates me, Joe doesn’t understand and Max makes me feel used. I feel pointless, and it’s all because of him. His name makes me feel sick. Sick to the stomach. He doesn’t even understand how he makes me feel. I can’t sleep at night. Every time I close my eyes his face flashes before me. I’m scared. I just don’t want to be here any longer. I want to go. I am going to leave. It’ll make everything better. I’m a waste of space. I’m sure Joe will understand.

we then added a instrumentalsound track, with the recorded voice we felt that having a quite sound playing it made the piece much more dramatic and effective of which it needed to be due to Roxy express such deep feelings.
